If this were a joke, I'd laugh. But because I think you are serious, I can
only shake my head.
Religion is far older, and far more useful than science by your measure
since more than 50% of the population feel it's a better answer to many
questions than science. I agree that it makes it more "useful" almost by
defition. But do you you understand why people use Religion? It has
nothing to do with finding the truth. It has everything to do with finding
peace of mind. Religion makes people feel better than science does, that's
why it's still used so much even though we as a culture understand how
wrong so much of the beliefes it's founded on are.
Likewise, "folk psychology" has a use. That's why it's been used for so
long and continues to be so popular. It's used to communicate behavior.
It's not used to explain it even though it's wrapped in a blanket that
would have us believe it's is an explanation. For the most part, it's the
same type of answer that Religion gives us - and answer that makes is feel
like we know something when in fact we know nothing. We like those answers
because it makes us feel better to believe we know something than to accept
the fact that we don't know it.
