What is Maslow's hierarchy really?

Hello,
Is there an established computational interpretation of Maslow's
hierarchy of needs?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Maslowsneeds.png
To my non-professional (and yet definately computationally oriented)
mind, and from the point of view of the Occam's razor, this is nothing
but a set of layers of abstraction for procedures which basicaly aim at
physiological goals.
But the real question is this. How are the bottom goals formulated by
the professional A.I. (i.e. computationally)? They _all do appear mouse
and cheese problems (and all the way up).
Thank you.
Tom
