I think beagle needs to accept the fact the race was run, and 5
vehciles finished the course. At least 12 vehicles went 20+ miles.
That's pretty remarkable.
In the town I live in, the drivers are about nuts to start with. 25% of
students, and many are plain careless. Every other day here I see
pedestrians almost run down at intersections. And of course, the
students are always darting across the street in front of cars. 40,000
or so people die in the US in traffic accidents each year. Chances of
being in a traffic accident are supposedly 4X higher for cell phone
users. Distraction.

Actually, rather than having the computers taking over auto control
completely, just having a bunch of intelligent sensors and warning
systems would be a huge help. How many people drive over kids playing
in driveways every year, or just fail to see someone? These huge SUVs
people drive today have very poor rearward visibility. They also block
the view for everyone else around them too. On and on.
