AIMS AND SCOPE
ICMLA'08 aims to bring together researchers and practitioners to
present the
latest achievements and innovations in the area of machine learning.
The
conference provides a leading international forum for the
dissemination of
original research in ML, with emphasis on applications, novel
algorithms,
software and systems. Topics of interest include but are not limited
to:
* statistical learning
* learning through fuzzy logic
* case-based reasoning
* reinforcement learning
* machine learning of natural language
* grammatical inference
* knowledge acquisition and learning
* knowledge discovery in databases
* information retrieval and learning
* web navigation and mining
* learning through mobile data mining
* online and incremental learning
* learning through text and multimedia mining
* inductive learning
* machine learning in game playing and problem solving
* machine learning in intelligent virtual environments
* machine learning in homeland security applications
* machine learning in science and engineering
* machine learning in medicine
* machine learning in bioinformatics
Contributions describing applications of machine learning techniques
to
real-world problems, interdisciplinary research involving machine
learning,
experimental and/or theoretical studies yielding new insights into the
design
of ML systems, and papers describing development of new analytical
frameworks that advance practical learning methods are especially
encouraged.
The conference will also hold workshops, special sessions, and
competition:
* the second ICMLA workshop on Machine Learning in Biomedicine
and Bioinformatics
* Special session on "From Biological Intelligence to Machine
Intelligence:
Algorithm Abstraction, Evaluation, and Validation"
* Special session on "Applications of Machine Learning in Medicine and
Biology"
* Special session on "Applications of Machine Learning in
Radiotherapy"
* Special session on "Machine Learning and Data Mining Methods in
Bioinformatics"
* Special session on "Machine Learning Applications in Multimedia
Information Retrieval"
* Special session on "Statistical Data Mining and Machine Learning in
Cancer
Epidemiology and Cancer"
* Special session on "Application of Machine Learning in Constructing
Biopatterns and Analysing Bioprofiles"
