Load bitmap files dynamically

Hi,

does anybody know how to load at runtime a bitmap or gif file from a
sd-card and display it on the palm screen for example in the bounds of
an image button. I search for a functionality like the palm app "Media"
do. Look in directory for image files and diplay them as a thumbnail on
the screen.
