Subject: SMS construct pgm name
Has anyone developed a methodology to determine if FTP is the program
creating SMS dsn? Currently we have a fall thru test for pgm
= BPXPRECP
but I think that's the "exec()" program, not just FTP? Of
course we have
the various flavors of FTP, FTP port 21, sFTP (ported tools)
and TECTIA,
but I assume that shouldn't make a difference?

Whose stack? IBM or CA (I'd guess IBM). FTP client (GET) or FTP server
(PUT)? In my personal opinion, this is not really a good thing to test
for. I know you likely have a reason to know this. But I'd put the data
into a storage class / group based on something else, if possible. Why
should a given file created via ftp be in a different SC than the same
file, created by the same user, created by IEBGENER or any other batch
program? Or one created by IND$FILE (3270 file transfer)?
sftp from the ported tools only writes to UNIX files, so it is not a
consideration for SMS.
I never heard of TECTIA.
Not much help, I know.
