This caught my eye:
NEW FUNCTION - DYNAMIC VOLUME EXPANSION
APARs - OA21113, OA20043, OA21216
***************************************************
* USERS AFFECTED: D/T2107 New Function: Dynamic Volume
* Expansion. This support allows a customer to
* increase the capacity of a logical volume
* while it is online to a host system.
***************************************************
* PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Volumes that are expanded can be online
* during and after the execution of the
* function. DFSMS Device Support code
* will detect the volume size change,
* issue a new message (IEA019I), and cut
* an SMF Record Type 22 with the old and
* new volume size.
***************************************************
* RECOMMENDATION:
***************************************************
For full exploitation this maintenance must be installed across
all systems attached to the devices being expanded.
If there are multiple systems, each of these systems must have
the PTFs installed. All systems will then have a consistent
view of the volume size.
ALL systems do *not* have to be IPLed at the same time, but all
systems attached to the control unit must apply the PTF
before attempting to expand a volume.
