RE: Forcing an SMS dataset to a specific volume

Joe,

What you are remembering is GUARANTEED SPACE, an attribute of SC. Then
code STORCLAS=sc_with_gs_attribute in your JCL along with vol=ser and it
will be honored.

Subject: Forcing an SMS dataset to a specific volume

Hi folks,

We have some log datasets that are delete/defined every night and under
SMS
management they can obviously go to any device within the SG. Due to
the
high activity rate and their critical availability/response times for
these 'online' datasets, we need to ensure they are del/def to the same
volume every night to ensure XRC does not deploy device blocking.

Is there an easier way of doing this than my current plan which involves

adding a filtlist to direct them to a SG that only contains one volme? I

seem to remember an SMS option that can override the ACS and force them
to
a specific volume (but can't remember what it is).

Any/all options considered.

Regards,

Joe
