We've been doing it since 4.1 and it hasn't changed. Basically it
involves duplexing the virtual tapes (VTVs) you need onto a second set
of back end tapes (MVCs) and getting those offsite along with a
backup copy of your CDS.
See the STK VTCS disaster recovery manual and PTAM (pickup truck
access method).
One thing we do different than the "standard process" is use CDSMERGE
instead of a manifest import. When we started doing this the import
would have taken about 18 hours (process improved since then to perhaps
3 or 4 hours), but CDSMERGE takes about 5 minutes.
If you want to discuss this in more detail off list, I'll be happy
to as I was invovled since the start. DR was the main reason we
got rid of VTS and installed VSM and have been doing it since day
1 of VSM.
