For future (or perhaps current) reference, note that there are many ways
you can isolate user TCP/IP activity from underlying changes to your
network configurations. If you look into the VIPA/DVIPA concepts in the
references you may find some good information.
That's probably a good idea anyway. In many shops the most unreliable
part of the mainframe isn't the mainframe -- it's all the (often
unnecessary) networking gear and wires in front of it.
