Re: STK Equipment too tall.

In our case it was a 3081-KX which would have fit through the door
pretty well. Wouldn't there have been the raised floor and a short
ramp leading up to it just behind the door making up for a
vertical challenge ... After some head scratching and a closer
examination of the machine's interiors it was decided to leave the
wall intact and to slice off part of the outer frame of the 3081.
And so it happened. The machine was moved in, the cut-off pieces
were welded back again and our 3081 ran merrily until it got
replaced by one of Switzerland's first 9672's.

Oh yeah, those were the days.

When we installed a 3081-D, we didn't discover
that the pieces would not fit through the 5th
floor computer room door until the day we
brought them up the elevator (where it did
fit).
They had to cut an opening in the wall.
They had to pay a carpenter OT to do it, plus
a fee to get him in on Sunday.
Later, it was set up as an extra delivery door.
