When my Panny quits, if it's replacement will not allow recording off the
movie channels, I will simply cancel the channels. The movies I want to
watch on these channels (I have 6 of them) are never on when I want to
watch them, so they are only useful to me if I can do timeshifted viewing.

Then forget about cable and satellite TV. Rent the movies on DVD through the
mail. Subscribe to Netflix or Blockbuster, or the equivalent in Canada. It's
a lot cheaper and better quality too.
