Actually, the 8-track was invented and patented by Lear-Jet, hence the
reason that all early 8-track cartridges had "Lear-Jet" on the rear.
They were originally invented to be used on Lear-jet airplanes.
The carts used in radio stations were 4-track, not 8-track, and they
were a wider format.
