what size and type of tv do you have? On my 50" Samsung DLP 720p set,
DVDs look ok, but the limitation is VERY noticeable and this on a Oppo
DVD player which uses teh Faroudja DCDi chip to upconvert to 720p and
DVI out.
Even on my 32" Wega and Sony 7000, artifacting and especially
edge-enhancements are easily visible.
I knew ALOT of people who said they couldn't see much of a difference
b/w VHS and DVD when DVDs first came out, but after watching DVDs for a
while, they then very much noticed the difference when they tried to
watch VHS agin. This will likely be true with a 1080p source in the
future.
Although, I'll agree with most people who've poasted on the topic that
I don't see a glaring call for HD-DVD not BluRay and the format war is
going to set it back. I'm normally an early adopter but this one is
one i'm sitting out.
