DVD rip and convert

I've perused a ton of posts and downloaded a variety of programs but
I'm still having problems getting things going so a little guidance
would be great if anyone cares to steer me in the right direction.
I'm a web designer, but I'm new at the video end of things. A client
brought a DVD he wants to play from his website, so I plan to rip it,
convert it to avi or mpeg and then convert to .FLV so I can stream it
with a Flash player. I'm familiar with everything that needs to be
done once I have an avi or mpeg, but the conversion part has me ready
to pull my hair out.
I have 6 total files, which consist of 2 BUPs, 2 IFOs, and 2 VOPs (not
VOBs). Most of my search results and downloaded programs require a VOB
file, but I have VOP instead. What am I missing? Thanks for any help!!
