Reminded me of a story - maybe 10 years ago...
3 of us in Vegas had spent time walking the strip and when we got back to
casino we had some time to kill before the wives showed up so we were just
watching Texas hold 'em. After a few minutes we sat down at a $2 /$4 table.
Everyone else was a regular - looks at their cards, folds and talking to
their neighbor " so how was bowling last night...". We started getting some
good cards but we really weren't there to make a lot of money - we were just
killing time, so with a decent hand, we'd just keep up with the table - if
it was a "check" to us we checked, if it costs $4 we'd put in the $4. And we
started winning. We really didn't notice , but in hindsight we were winning
a good percentage of the hands. On one hand especially my brother-in-law is
dealt a pair and on the flop paired up again, next one he has a full house
but nothing obvious and still he's betting $2, $4 ... whatever going around
the table. Well, 2 guys called him and when he revealed his cards one guy
FLIPPED OUT " With cards like that you should have been raising from the
start!" He stood up - "You had no right to check with those cards!" ... on
and on for maybe 2 minutes. Then he walked completely around the table - sat
down - composed himself and apologized. About 20 minutes later, my friend,
played blindly, stayed in and caught a straight! Again " You had no right
to be in the game with those cards ( something like 59, and up cards
included 678). Who pays $4 to stay in with 9 high ?" He explained that he
plays cards a good part of everyday trying to make a few bucks and it gets
him mad when tourists 'don't play the cards right'.
We got up and went to the bar.
( If 'that guy' is reading this - no harm was meant)

Since I started the thread, seems appropriate i should contribute a Vegas
story or two:
I was on the wait list for the $10/$20 Texas Hold'em game at the Orleans
but took a seat in the
$4/$8 game until I could get in the higher limit game.
