We plan on visiting the Las Vegas Springs Preserve this trip, and
I
was wondering if any AVLVers have some first hand comments about
the
park?
It's described as being the original springs which led to Las
Vegas
being settled in the first place, updated with galleries, hiking
trails and other attractions.
Me, as a history buff, I want to observe the springs themselves
and
read any interpretive information available.
This trip: the Springs, and The Old Mormon Fort.
I found the Preserve to be an incredible waste of $250 million. Why
pay
$18 to tour a desert environment that's surrounded by actual desert?
You may not have made the trek through the original springs water
works ruins. All the newly developed stuff was indeed a huge waste.
Ironically the original botanical demonstration area on Arville and
Valley View, that it replaced, was really nice and I miss it.
You're absolutely right, that was one of the very first non-touristy
things I ever did in Vegas and it was a great experience. I enjoyed it a
lot more than Springs Preserve.
