Somehow I got on an email list of a guy who writes an occasional column
for
the LVRJ. He sends email when he is in search of information.
Today's email from him asks: "Do you know, or have you ever heard of
anyone,
who interacted with Hunter S. Thompson during his "Fear and Loathing" Las
Vegas trips circa 1970? Cops, hotel clerks, etc."
Any clue what he's talking about? Perhaps Walt-o-pedia knows.
Oh, c'mon now!

Yeah, yeah, Walt. Wikipedia (and Walto-o-pedia) are wonderful things. But
...
The email I received - and quoted - is looking for *first-hand reports*
from
anyone who may have personally known and/or interacted with Mr. Hunter.
Well, you asked, "Any clue what he's talking about?", which suggested you
didn't
have a clue, so I gave you a clue.

Speaking of which, "Fear and Loathing" is still available at Hulu.com, although
I must say that, at 1:58 in length, it's about 1:45 too long. It was probably
more fun being Hunter Thompson than watching him, or maybe I just need to watch
the movie through a drug-induced haze. Then again, just about anything is more
entertaining when watched through a drug-induced haze, with the possible
exception of "Shoah."
Note to Cameron: Hulu also has the WWII action-drama "The Train" from 1965,
starring Burt Lancaster as a French railway inspector who tries to save a
trainload of France's greatest art treasures from being shipped to Nazi Germany.
No CGI in this film; they wreck some real trains!
--- Walt
I never could watch that entire movie either. I think the Cheapovegas
crew could have made a better one.

I thought it was the best anti-drug film I've ever seen. As far as a
regular movie, it's not that great.
