Traffic can be a real issue at times when driving into Las Vegas from So
Cal. Starting Fridays around noon untill the wee hours of Monday AM it
can be bumper to bumber two way all the way from and to San Ysidro and
TJ.
Where does this come from? So in Don's mind there is a line on the I-15
stretching from the US /Mexico border all the way to Downtown LV staring
approximately on noon Friday ending 2 days later?. I swear he is just
goofing, there is no way he can actually say this with a straight face.
Many times a few people will make the mistake of going to Vegas with the
inaccurate understanding that a "room will just be available". While it
may be true in some instanceds that is never true in all instances and
you can be stuck in your car all night because you did not pick up the
telephone and call a few places on their 800 reservation number.
Oh yaaaaaa....I can't tell you the inumerable horror stories I have heard of
people being stuck in their cars after arriving in town.
The expanse of desert between Vegas and So Cal or even Arizona is miles
of endless desert. Be sure your cell is charged and working properly.
Have a few emergency numbers programmed in. Have your meds if you use
them. Have a few gallons of water in the car as you drive. It'll cool
you off and it won't hurt the radiator if needed. And, ...have your
reservations with confirmation number, and the person you spoke with
handy. Documentation makes the difference, even know date time and place
and who you spoke with with your understandings noted.
Way to make the 4-5 hour drive seem like a guidless trek thru the Andes. I'm
guessing the 10's of thousands of trucks and cars driving by should be able
to provide assistance in case you forget to program those emergency numbers
properly, does anyone have the phone number to Baker,CA fire department so I
can program it?
Also surely you NEED to write down the name of the person you spoke to since
its so common to arrive at the hotel you booked and not have a room,
especially in this day and age!
