I started reading this news group several years ago when it was
actually a good source of information about Vegas. It got to be a
place where a few fools started trying to one-up each other and then
we get the ignorant ones who think this group is alt.vacation.mouth
off about politics.

As a non-US resident who came to this newsgroup originally to ask questions about Vegas I am naturally bored shitless by the off-topic posts, which are mostly political or 'in-jokes' amongst the people here.

That said, I can live with it - this is a place for excellent advice about the town. Just - as I now do - avoid posts about politics, BRAVES (whatever that means) and anything that doesn't interest you and just use the group for what it can be if you want it to - a vibrant, informative and entertaining source of intelligence about Satan's City.

Thanks to this newsgroup and the Vegans and others who populate it, I have saved hundreds of dollars, spent hundreds of dollars, met and made friends and renewed my love for a place I first visited before most of the people here were born!

This Brit salutes AVLV - long may it thrive.
