It has seemed to me that a goodly number of AVLVer's suffer from
diabetes.
(Is there a connection between over-indulgence of food and drink and
Vegas? Of course.) Anyway,
my question is how do you handle a trip to Vegas?
If on oral therapy only, do you cut back or eliminate alcohol
consumption,
or just "fogettabotit?"
If on insulin therapy, do you increase you insulin dosage to compensate
for the booze? Or do you just blow it off? Or do you refrain from
drinking?
Either way, do you go to pig-out buffets or gourmet meals with forbidden
foods?
Five years ago I came to Vegas with my brother and as usual we drank too
much. Brother Mark kept complaining he was tired and constantly thirsty
but put it down to too much alcohol and the heat. Yes you guessed it, on
arriving back in the UK he was found to be diabetic and it took a year to
get him stabilised.
too much eating and drinking" in my brothers case most definately yes ! He
carries on life as normal both at home and on holiday and increases his
insulin dosage as required.
I believe this is normal practice in Germany.
