Re: Electric bills thread new question

I agree with Nonny.

Last month I found two able workers at the U-Haul in Sepulveda, CA (how hard
is that) and paid them $10/hour. After two hours I gave them each $30 and a
sixpack of soda. Just treat them nicely.

In LV, I did the same thing only instead I found them at Home Depot. There
were so many looking for work (and standing in the 100 degree heat). It is
really sad and I wish I could have used more of them.

Hope to arrive on October 12th. I've had 3 back surgeries so I'm not
much good at lifting. We've hired a local company to pack the truck. 3
guys, $110 per hour with no minimum. Now if I can find something similar
in LV, we'll be all set. Any recomendations appreciated.

Here in LV, consider day labor. The men can be found outside any plant
store, such as Star Nursery, looking for day work. The going rate is
$80/day per man, plus something to eat for lunch. You pick them up and
return them the same location. Just look in the Yellow Pages or Google
Streets for a plant store, nursery etc. and there will be plenty out there
looking for work.

If you don't speak Spanish, consider using an English to Spanish
translator on your browser to make up a sign to hold up. Such as: 4
Men, all day, $80/man plus lunch. Unloading and carrying furniture into
house. See if at least one of them can speak a little English to aid in
translation. That eliminates any confusion.

As a courtesy, have some bottled water or plastic cups inside the house so
they can have water to drink and be sure to let them know it's OK to use
the bathroom.
