Sundays Trip Report

It is great to live in Vegas, no airfare surcharges, no worry
about paying higher rents on weekends.

The day started like the original Dawn of The Living Dead
movie, where the zombies return to the mall as they
remember the mall as their true home.

I left the car on auto pilot and it delivered us to the
Western, our true home away from home. The wife
and I bought in at the $3 table for $40. Again we faced
a dealer who made her hands and did not break. After
losing $25 we went to the $5 table with the balance of
our extinction money. Again things turned on a dime
and was going our way. On the last hand we played,
the count was so good I suggested to Mrs. Baf she
play $10, she does not like these suggestions, but
she knew with no 10's out and all little cards for
three players and the dealer, she would listen.
I pulled two ace's which I split and ended up getting
pictures on each one. She had 15 and drew a 5
which really surprised both of us, we cashed out
with a $105 and toked the dealer $10.

Mrs. Baf played $5 on her duces wild and she is
finally catching on that you can't win any money
playing 25 cents on a nickle machine. I put $5
in the Jacks or better $1 machine and ended up
winning $5 more dollars.

Off to The Palms to use our last two free movie
tickets to see Momma Mia. I usually check the
show times on the internet but didn't do it
this time. After getting the tickets we still had
about a hour & thirty minutes, so what do you
do at a Casino with time to kill?

I don't like playing $10 unless it's matchplays,
but I decided to play. It was surpising how many
$10 tables that were open, usually they are
hard to find. I was sitting at a table with a young
couple and he was trying to teach his wife how
to play. She kept grabbing the cards with both
hands and the dealer was telling her to use
one hand only. She didn't know what to do
and was going to hit a stiff against the dealers
stiff, I really didn't care as I had a Blackjack.
Her and her husband listened to the dealer
and did not take a card, which ended up being
the dealers bust card. The next hand she was
afraid to turn over the cards to see what she
had because of this two hands on the cards
thing. She turned over a 12 and her husband
told her to double down, the dealer told her
not to double down and she listened, she took
a hit of a picture and busted. Then the husband
says he would have still doubled down. I won
that hand and left with a $25 profit.

I suggested to Mrs. Baf that she play the $1
duces wild and quit if she gets a head, she gets
up $6 and quits, I take the $26 ticket to the seven
play blackjack machine and run it down to
$14. I suggest to Mrs. Baf that she is lucky
and to take the $14 back to the $1 duces wild
and she quickly runs it up to $27 and quits.

We pass another $10 blackjack game and I suggest
that she plays. After six hands, two wins, two pushes
and two losses she is even. The dealer re-shuffles
and she suggests that I play, first hand was a blackjack,
second hand a pat 20 for a win and we leave the
table.

We are up $112 for the day, now off to Momma
Mia the movie. About 5 weeks ago we saw Momma
Mia at The Mandalay Bay, buying the tickets for half
price at their website, 5th row tickets.

I'm not a musical fan, the story line was good
enough and so was the acting, to carry the show
without the music. The acting and music was
outstanding. I would suggest seeing it as its run
is almost over on your next trip to Vegas.

Well the movie was not a disappointment, it
was better than the stage show mainly because
it was on location, rather than a bleak stone wall
on the stage. The singing & music was electronically
more vibrant. The actors actually resembled the actors
in the stage play, I think their casting was done after
they saw the Vegas version because of the similarity
between the casts.

Even at the end of the movie, during the running of the
credits and after the credits there was an encore. The
movie was true to form.

I try to avoid musicals at all costs, but did see
Fiddler On The Roof at the Union Plaza and
at the movies. I also enjoyed Paint Your Wagon.

If you have seen Momma Mia on stage, it is a
must see at the movies.
