I make it policy not to get involved in childish disputes,most of
which are of the type I left behind in Jr High School (or middle
school to you youngsters). I usually don't follow the flame wars and
am only generally aware of who the participants are.
This is more than a dispute. This is something that has absorbed so much
time and so much bandwidth over the years that it just needs to be settled.
You are about the only person Mike doesn't find something to reject and
if he does reject you going to his house and meeting his lady friend and
confirming he does reside in Las Vegas, than the group can finally put
to rest forever his argument that he does.

That's all well and good but you have to realize I have zero interest
in any of this.

However, if you'd like to pay for gas for for over and back, as you
offered, that would be about 650 miles worth of gas, I could make an
exception. That would be 560 miles round trip LA, over to Las Vegas
and back plus, the usual 90-100 miles while I'm there, all at about
18mpg. Luckily for you, I use regular gas. At say $4.20 a gal that
would be $152, cash in my hand before I had to where ever it is you
want me to go. Besides, with that money I could buy Dr Bob a lot of
beer.
It would be well worth it to pay that small amount if it would settle
the dispute and I'm quite happy to pay it. I'd be willing to bet there
are many others who would also be willing to chip in if only to make
Mike finally put up or shut up.

If he agrees it's okay with me and I'm sure Dr Bob would like to come
as an impartial witness, as long at I have the $152 in my hand before
I head in his direction.

I'm sure Burt Cohen would chip in, especially if it gives him a chance
to retain his championship, possibly on the way to your target
destination.
Burt is welcome to toss a few dollars into the pool. I'd bet that Tom C
would throw in some or all of the amount. Any others are welcome.

That's fine. Take up a collection for all who are interested and
I'll be happy to accept as much as possible, as long as it's $152 or
more.

So now all we have to do is get Mike to put up or shut up. If he agrees
to let you visit his house and meet his lady friend and verify that he
resides in Las Vegas then all he has to do is say so.
Once that is out in the open, I will arrange getting the money to you.
I won't bet the farm that Mike will say yes, as he has far too often
weaseled out of the chance to put to rest his lies, but for $150, it's
worth it to see him try.
