(Probably the same article) said that F&E also battles itself by selling foods about to date expire at a steep discount. I didn't spend a lot of time studying the situation this AM, but did grab a $10 bunch of flowers for $5. IMHO, their prices aren't that much different from Albertson's or Smith's. The place by us was doing a good business the several times I've been there, and Mrs. Nonny had it "recommended" to her the other day at the beauty parlor when I took her in for a haircut. I think that (even like TJ's), it's something that will take a change in habits to become fully functioning. I usually just go to the store on autopilot, and need to remind myself to shop at anyplace different.
I've gone to them a few times, and would warn folks to look at the labels
carefully... I'd never in my life seen things with over 100% of the
recommended daily amount of sodium until I looked there. I don't know what
the point it... but most things were just laden with sodium.
Thanks for the input there. Neither of us have a BP problem, so we're not into the sodium levels. . . yet. Let me also now add a word of caution about their soups. Like TJ's and Whole Foods Market, the prepared soups we've tried from all three stores are not to our liking. I dumped out mushroom soup and butternut squash soup last night after we tried it.
OTOH, the Albacore tuna steaks $6.99/# were out of this world when lightly grilled and served with my homemade ginger butter, as was the fruit salad.
As I mentioned to another person, Fresh and Easy probably has as many feet of coolers as you'd find in a large Albertson's or Smith's.
