Daily gambling averages?

I was playing an early session of VP before we had to leave for the airport
and struck up a conversation with the guy next to me. I mentioned I only
had an hour to play before catching the cab and it was his contention that I
should not have my Players Club card in the machine. His reasoning was that
I was lowering my daily gambling average because this one hour of play would
add an entire day to my total and thus lower my daily average.
Any basis to this? I was at MSS.
