I am from the mountains, and while not that impressed with mountain views from Vegas, Mt. Charleston is pretty cool.

When we have visitors who want to see Mt. Charleston, we usually take them up Kyle Canyon Road, circle through Echo subdivision and see the Lodge for a drink and bathroom. Returning, I take the cut-across around Mummy to Lee Canyon Road.

BTW, this is a tad OT, but were you aware that you can put your car in neutral in Echo subdivision and literally ROLL all the way down to US 95- about 28 miles!! I've done it 2-3 times and once never even started my engine until I was stopped at the sign at US 95. There's only one little hill, by the Hotel, but if you enter the hill at about 55, you'll make it over with speed to spare.

As a further OT aside, when we had our little cabin up there, I commented to my son that it was one of my new life goals to put wheels on a Lazy Boy recliner and roll from our driveway to US 95. That Christmas, he gave me a garden wagon kit from Harbor Freight that included enough wheels and stuff to actually build something that would work. I never carried through with it, and also noticed that he did NOT include any brakes, but it would have been fun to get a belly full of martinis and try.
