Re: Dumbest named Las Vegas holte/casino/property

Actually if my SA consortium had managed to purchase the Horseshoe before
Harrah's did, "Tom's Casino" would have been a good name. Ask yourself why
there are so many Tom's on this newgroup. Tom's just gravitate to gambling
establishments and engender excitement, fun and confidence all at the same
time. Who doesn't trust a Tom? Tom/Ct, Thomas/Germany, Tom/Longhorn. Now
I'm not casting aspersions on BOB, understand. BOB is a perfectly good
name. What's up, Bob? Bob's in the know. I like Bob. But BILL? William the
Conqueror! Wild Bill Hitch***, Buffalo Bill Cody. Billy the Kid. All sort
of suspicious.

What do you think is the dumbest sounding LV hotel/casino. I'm giving
the award to Echelon Place, with a runner up prize going to Project
City Center. Good God, how dumb can you be? I mean, come on. The
powers to be at Boyd thought they could do better than "Stardust" &
they fell right on their ass. I understand them wanting to build a
new property, but "Echelon Place"? You have got to be kidding me.

They should have just called it the Stardust. They could make it
newer & all that, but kept the name. This just perpetuates the
stereotype of corporatations being idiots.

The developers are making a complex not just a casino.
I don't think they want the future residents/ tenants giving their
address
as Stardust Hotel.
So I thought the executive suites/office space etc will be called Echelon
Place. I would HOPE that the casino inside will still be called the
Stardust , no ?
Even when they were demolishing, it bothered me that they did not leave
their sign up on the strip. That was one of the most famous signs ever.

The Project City Center - if that goes as planned that IS going to be a
city. I think as that opens the name will be dropped and the residents
there would just use the address, since ' The Project' will be complete
and it will be just " City Center ".

As for the dumbest name : I grant the award to BILL's Casino. I had read
that when they bought it, one of the past names that they had already
bought out /had rights to was Bill's, and they were using it as a
formality in the paperwork. I could not believe when I went there shortly
afterward and saw that they actually made/hung a sign using that name !
THAT was dumb.

Runner-up: after " The Golden Nugget" , " The Mirage", " Bellagio", the
best he could do was " Wynn" ??

If I'm not mistaken, they used "Bill" because of the founder of
Harrah's, William (Bill) Harrah.

I heard "Tom" was on the short list.
