I do not normally post TR'S, but I thought I would do so, just to give anDid the wife spend any time staring out the window?
idea of a "low-roller" type vacation. My wife and I flew out of BDL on
May11th on the 6:10AM earlybird and with a change in Cincinnati, we arrive
at LAS ontime at 10:25AM.
After grabbing our bags, we headed to a shuttle bus to take us to
Gillespie
and Warm Springs, which is the location of the new Rental Car Facility. I
found this new method to be much better than the old system. Outside of
door
10 at McCarran, there were 3 buses for the rental car facility and no one
had to wait. After a short 5 minute ride, we walked in and being dollar
express members proceeded directly to level one of the garage. I signed a
paper and was told to take any one of the cars in a certain row, but as
usual, they were all gone. I got an upgrade to a premium car and was
headed
for Blueberry Hills restaurant on Flamingo in record time.
I promised anyone who showed up a free breakfast. I didn't expect anyone
to
do so, and of course they didn't. Either they didn't want to meet me, or
they were afraid I would find out how dumb and stupid they might be.
Anyway,
wife and I had an early lunch rather than breakfast. A cup of chicken
noodle
soup and a turkey sandwich fortified my soul to the extent, I was able to
drive down to Primm, NV. off we went and we arrived at Buffalo Bills
around
1:30PM.
We had a $49 room on the 2nd floor, which was worth every dollar of the
49.
Very large, with 2 queen beds and just around the corner from the
elevators.
We gambled in the casino that afternoon and evening and ate at their
coffee
shop. I sat down on a Let It Ride table and on the first hand, I was dealt
a
fullhouse. Played a few more hands and walked away with about $220 plus my
buyin of $60.
The coffee shop at Bills was just a typical coffee shop and the food was
ok,
but no one got sick or ended up spending the night in the bathroom. We
were
both very tired, so passed on the opportunity to catch the Bellemy
Brothers
and aleep at the wheel, in concert at Buffalo Bills. With no desire to
ride
the desperado, we hit the bed early.
Saturday the 12th, we headed back to vegas and grabbed lunch at IN-N-OUT
on
Maryland Parkway. Didn't have the double-double but had the cheeseburger
animal style and some fries. Best food around, when you want a quick
lunch.
After lunch, we drove to McCarran to pick up my daughter, who flew in from
Bellingham WA. on Allegiant Airlines to spend some time with us. Her
flight
was perfect and we then proceeded to South las vegas BLVD to check into
the
condo I rented.
The condo is 1137SF, ground floor, built in 2004 and they have 3 pools in
the complex.. The condo is valued at $254,000 and well worth every dime I
paid to rent it. We all had our privacy and it cost a total of $450 for
the
4 nights. Saturday night, we sat in the living room and watched the movie
"Health Inspector" with Larry the cable guy. Now, that is my type of
redneck
humor. Politically incorrect but I could care less.
In part II, I'll mention the fire on Sunday morning.
