Re: My News And Dilemma For The Day

Walt---

Donna won't need another casino. The V is already mandating that she
spend three nights there along with her trip. Betting those $5 machines
no telling how long her luck will hold. (We're all just a little
jealous, Donna.)

No......my name will definitely not be appearing in lights on the Mandalay
Bay/House Of Blues marquee.......nothing as exciting as that.......but a few
hours ago, out on my front porch, I discovered a huge packet of information
from The Venetian informing me that I won a trip for two in a private
balcony stateroom on a 7-day fall foliage New England cruise. If I decide
to accept, I have to provide my own transportation to The V on October 26th,
attend some celebration dinner, stay there two nights, and on the 28th we
will be flown via a charter flight to NYC (the city -- not the famous Vegas
hotel), board the Star Princess and set sail at 5:00 PM on a Princess cruise
that heads up to Nova Scotia then works its way down the New England
coastline and returns to NYC on November 4th when we will all be flown back
to Vegas. Upon our return to Vegas, we will spend a third night at The
Venetian and then I provide my own transportation home on Sunday, November
5th.

Halifax is a nice place. I've visited there several times, though not
by cruise ship. You'll dock at Pier 21, where a boardwalk leads to
various sites along the harbor. There are several historic vessels
open for viewing, and a maritime museum with a Titanic exhibit.
There's also a waterfront casino. It's the only game in town, though,
so I wouldn't expect the slots to be very loose. They claim 92%
overall payout.

Here's a link to a boardwalk photo-map. The casino isn't labeled, but
it's just to the left of the "Harbour Shuttle Tour Landing"...

It should be about a 30-minute walk from the ship to the casino (or
more if you're sightseeing along the way). Dress warmly; to give you
an idea of the weather to expect, the golf courses in Nova Scotia close
for the season in October.
