PROPOSED AVLV CHARTER AMENDMENT

I know that this could be interpreted as presumptuous on my part but
given the recent "troubles," I thought it might help the newbies past,
present and future to have a simple guide to getting along in the
group. This amendment to the charter is obviously a work in progress
and anyone is of course invited to add, delete or change the amendment
as they see fit. After a two-thirds vote (election to be monitored by
Jimmy Carter and a conservative of BR's choice) the amendment will be
added to the AVLV FAQ and charter. That of course is the responsibility
of the "Official Keeper of the Charter," Thomas W.
OK, for starters and for discussion:
1. No lying and/or bullshitting .
2. If you are going to bull*** or lie, at least do enough research on
your subject so as not to insult the intelligence of AVLV regulars.
3. No personal information unless it is pertinent to the subject at
hand.
4. If personal information is needed to make a point about a subject,
see No. 1 and No. 2.
5. NO STALKING-This would translate into trying to get any information
about any person that is obviously not meant to be known. Stalking
would also include any contact with any AVLV participant that is not
invited. A sub-clause to No. 5 would be the Steve Two-Names clause.
Even though Steve is sometimes involved in a public business, this does
not mean that because you paid your money and you have read his posts
that you are necessarily his friend. Again be invited to interact.
6. No racism or bigotry. Racism and bigotry are not liberal or
conservative issues. A bigot is a bigot, even if he or she wraps
themselves up in the flag, or claims the higher ground through
liberalism. Just watch your mouth.
7. No political discussion unless it involves at least two
participants. In other words no partisan rants. All
liberal/conservative debate should be done in such a manner that a
sense of humor is always in evidence. Any discussion that begins with
"You ignorant ***...is of course encouraged.
8. Have a sense of humor, especially about yourself. DO NOT take
yourself too seriously.
9. Do not think that if you are flamed you have made a life long enemy.
Alliances in AVLV change constantly. There have been only two people in
my experience who have been universally and consistently disliked on
AVLV. Chuck is NOT one of them. So todays moron is tomorrow's partner
in crime.
10. Try not to inject yourself into threads that you do not have a clue
as to what is being discussed. There are many exceptions to this rule
but basically try to add something relevant. i.e. If you have never
been in a limo, your only role to a limo thread would be to ask a
question or thank someone for the info. Again there are exceptions, but
think about what you are typing.
11. There are just too many references in AVLV that only the regulars
will get. If you get whooshed, take it as constructive criticism.
Googleing prevents whooshing.
I could go on but that's enough for me for now. I hope people add to
this thread, but if not that is OK, also, I won't be insulted. It is
just AVLV. 750 posts on David's invisible 16 page decision and almost
no post's on Strevel's unique collection of famous nails. How do ya
figure? Oh and I figure the five post rule will probably apply here.
Five posts and the initial subject will never be heard from again.
