Re: Was Trip Report 6/23-6/25

DocTCW:

True, security in Vegas is probably some of the best in the world, and I
was probably very safe. However, you just don't know. Considering that I
also had to empty my safe deposit box, I was already carrying over 7k in
cash on me, plus if I changed in my win from the craps table, I would have
had over 13k in cash. Thus the reason I asked for the check. Initially I
wanted to get everything in the form of a check, but they would only let
me get what I had just won at the craps table moments earlier.

As far as reporting to the IRS, yes in fact I due report my gambling
winnings and losses and keep a diary. Don't you? In fact as a serious
poker player I keep win/loss records for every poker session I have played
in a casino for the past 2 years or so.

I never said that I was always correct, but what I was told at the GN
(where DocDice got his check), was that this would be a form of money
laundering when I asked for a check for $10,000 on trip. Maybe the
circumstances were different.

HOWEVER, why would you want to deposit $6300 in your checking account,
which could be audited, unless, that is, you fully intend to declare
your winnings to the IRS?

And although you have a minor point about carrying around that much
cash, think about it. You are going to enter a cab, then an airport
building where there are tons of security guys around, then an
airplane.
