Unless your luck is running really bad, you're pretty much guaranteed a
profit if you play several matchplay coupons on even-money bets like
blackjack or roulette (red/black), etc. A $10 win with the coupon pays
you $30 instead of the regular $20. (They don't actually match your
bet, just your profit on a win.) So I'd say play as many matchplays as
you can.
Thanks for the tips Walt and Buster. I thought this might be a great
diversion from sitting in the same old place in front of a machine all
day. If I spend 2 days doing this, it'll still give me 3 days at one of
the casinos I'm staying at. I need to be there because of a slot
tournament I'm in.

I went though almost all of the LVA matchplays on my last trip. But I
was there a week and had a car and was moving all over town anyway.
But I've seen lots of casinos I otherwise wouldn't have seen. It's
certainly no big achievement to have gambled at Jerry's Nugget, but
strangely, I liked it. Also, I made about $80 (which certainly isn't
worth wasting a few vacation days for, but it's a nice bonus if you're
moving about anyway).
Finally, Rampart is one of the nicest places anywhere and strolling
around the pool area is pretty sweet ( I saw Helen Hunt sunbathing
there about 10 years ago).
