There was a certain amount of comment on that program, which I believe ran
over the course of two nights when first broadcast on PBS. If I recall
correctly, the consensus seemed to be that the program blazed very little
new territory and was pretty much a rehash of well-known events and people.

Yes, in part true, however it is well paced with historical and current
events interspersed throughout, and the insights from a few "commoners"
set a tone that is positive despite the city's rapid expansion,
pollution, etc. issues. I was also very surprised to see Wynn included
in shots of the city (very current).
