Part of the problem is that you are getting fantastic rates directly.
If you are seeing the Mirage for $75 , that's a fantastic deal
Priceline isn't going to beat. But when the best you can do directly is
$200 at the Mirage, Priceline can be great.

Oh, and you are probably doing two things wrong. You usually get great
rartes from priceline only at the last minute (so you want to get a
refundable reservation first, then hope for something better from
priceline at the last minute.) Second, the "offers" from priceline are
usually way overpriced. So if you bid $70, and they offer $110, that
doesn't mean the "priceline price" is $150. You could probably bid and
get the room for $90 or even less.
