My Kindle can be charged with a micro-USB (the same plug that's used for
charging most modern mobile phones) either from a PC or a dedicated
charger. If it's a PC connection the Kindle automatically establishes a
data connection and displays a message to the effect that if you want to
read your content while charging you have to Eject the device from the
PC. That isn't necessary if charging from a dedicated charger.
