The local "oldies" radio station hereabouts used to play songs from
the 1950s and '60s. You seldom hear those now. The audience is
dwindling. Dying off, even. Nowadays, people tune in for "blasts
from the past" that were hits much more recently.
That's similar to the oldies station locally. They've expanded to
include disco (blech) and 80s stuff. Maybe even more recent.
Amazingly, for all the expansion, they still have the problem I
complained about when they were just the 50s/60s, and that's too
short of a playlist. I hear the same songs repeatedly on my two 15
minute drives each day.
My cable TV system has an oldies channel that's pretty good. I
thought about making some tapes from it (the Bronco only does
cassette). As soon as I thought of such a thing, my old cassette
deck committed suicide. Apparently it was not interested in coming
out of retirement.
The cable system has ever-changing music channel line-up. Currently,
it's:
Dance/Electronica
Rap (uncensored)
Hip-Hop Classics
Throwback Jamz
R&B Classics
R&B Soul
Gospel
Reggae
Classic Rock
Retro Rock
ShowOff
Metal
Alternative
Classic Alternative
Adult Alternative
Soft Rock
Pop Hits
'90s
'80s
'70s
Solid Gold Oldies
Party Favorites
Stage & Screen
Kidz Only!
Toddler Tunes
ShowOff
True Country
Classic Country
Contemporary Christian
Sounds of the Seasons
Soundscapes
Smooth Jazz
Jazz
Blues
Singers & Swing
Easy Listening
Classical Masterpieces
Light Classical
ShowOff
Pop Latino
Tropicales
Mexicana
There's been lots of expansion in some areas. Others, like Bluegrass
(which I used to listen to occasionally), have gone away.

Both my recent new cars had Sirius Satellite Radio included. Something like 200 channels, including Elvis 24/7, Frank Sinatra Marinade, and so on. I seldom use it, as the music of driving is usually sweeter to my ears. We did turn it on in the fourth day of a ten-day road trip, but let it moulder in silence 80% of the time.
I see they also offer what appears to be the same lineup on Internet Radio.
