"He gasped out between his pants"
would this mean:
"He gasped out caught/framed in his pants (he was ponderous)?"
He's panting for breath and having difficulty speaking because of that.
What he can say comes in short gasps between his panting. I don't see a
problem here? Unless you are thinking pants=trousers, which would be very
un-English!
Nah, he experienced a teenage boy unexplainable sudden erection.
I know what you mean but as I'm sweet, pure and innocent the image that came
to my mind was that he had unexpectedly (and uncontrollably) f*rted.
Oh yes! Your version is much better. Our word "gasp" and "fart"
do well complement and compliment. I like this!
Literary genius, Prai Jei! I have memorized this association
between gasp and fart for future use.
"Whopped upside his head with a cast iron skillet, a sudden and
a surprising gasp flew from between his pant legs."
Yes! Yes! I love this, Prai Jei. Thank you! Thank you!
On a more lucid note, I suspect this difference in association
is partially based on gender differences. We women tend to think
of men in terms of erections at inappropriate times and you men
tend to think in terms of farting whenever you like.
Of course, women do not fart rather we fluff.
I am being sincere, though. I think this is related to a
difference in thinking between women and men, a difference
in how we view each other.
* cuts a gasp *

So many are stumped by what slips right off the top of my mind
like a man's bad fitting hairpiece.
