Hello:
"Goof," is that "stupidity" here?
I can't make sense of
"three months back sitting in the Metropole nodded out"
"Nodding" means in a drug induced trance, or semi-conscious state. "Nodded out" means the same. Lee is remembering when _he_ was in a trance three months earlier.
Most of this "Mold" and "Goof" messages are stream-of-consciousness to express the experience of hallucinations. I would, by this time, have skipped to the end of the novel, or stopped cold. "Who is the crazy junky here?", I would ask myself.
Oh, I think I have read enough sadistic descriptions of melting flesh, peeling skulls and the like to turn my stomach n times over. It starts out being hypnotic, then irritating, then boring, and, well, I _never_ read other stuff the author produces.
"Here to show off his new body," Lee decided with a shudder of morning
junk sickness. He knew that he was seeing -- ah yes Miguel thank you
-- three months back sitting in the Metropole nodded out over a stale
yellow eclair that would poison a cat two hours later, > Naked Lunch, by W.S. Burroughs, p. 58

Thanks.
