Me neither, but in Googling (not Google Grouping) on "take up airs" I
was startled to see hits from alt.usage.english. I've never before
seen Google Groups results from Google Advanced Search. Is this
something new or just something I hadn't noticed before?

A typical hit was

I have occasionally noticed it. Googling on "Nick Spalding" brings up a
few posts of mine in GG among lots of references that are nothing to do
with me at all. There are also some newsgroup postings from me in
archives other than GG.
