Fall 2008 is my last term at UM, after 37 years on the
faculty. I'll be going on "terminal leave" (which is rarely
fatal, luckily) at the end of Fall Term, and officially
retiring (or "going to join the Emeritooni", as our
Departmental elders call it) on Fiscal Year's Day, 2009. A
recent article on my retirement appears on page 3 of the
2007 Linguistics Department Newsletter.

The picture in that article, by the way, was cropped from a
couple of pictures of me and my partner Kate

in June 2007.
One of the things I did last term to prepare for retirement
was to finally get around to scanning all of my publications
that weren't already in electronic form and putting the lot
on the Web.
He appears to have been busy.
