OK. Sensible objection. My partner is fifty (and not particularly fit
I must add): when will muscular control begin to fail him, you think?

It is a gradual process and you will notice the evidence before he is
aware of the change. I doubt that he will agree with you as the
seriousness of the issue. We men are as blind to the evidence of this
as we are unconcerned about the gravity of leaving socks and underwear
on the floor.

I am retired, but my wife still works. Since I get out of bed after
she does in the morning, she insists that I should make the bed every
day. It bothers her greatly to come home to an unmade bed.

I do make the bed, but sometimes only minutes before she gets home
from work. Last week she came home during the day to pick up
something on her way to an appointment with a doctor. She was upset
that the bed wasn't made. She was even more upset when I told her
that I often don't make it until late afternoon.

I don't understand this. It's not like I give house tours to friends
and neighbors during the day. An unmade bed during the day is like a
tree that falls in forest when no one is there.
