What is the best way to (positively) answer an invitation?
1. I plan to attend the event
2. I would like to attend the event
3. other suggestion [are greately appreciated].
I'm only familiar with two kinds of invitations that are marked
"RSVP": the ones where you return a card indicating that you will or
will not attend, and the kind where you are expected to phone or write
with your intention.
In neither case is there a "form" for the reply. You either check off
a box on the return card or you wing it in a telephone conversation or
note. I don't see any difference between "plan" and "like", but
something a bit more enthusiastic is usually done. "Delighted" and
"Looking forward to ..." are more the norm.
Thank you, I'm going to adopt "looking forward to..." as my favorite
answer.
