"Foot" and "root" rhyme, at least in my boo.
Curiouser and curiouser. Do they rhyme with my foot or my root? I have root like the end of kangaroo, with a t, but my foot is completely different.
Do you really mean "boo" (as a ghost would say), or with a short vowel?
Yes, as a ghost. That's normal for them for most short words with oo in the middle.
I guess I'll have to add this word to my list as well and just say "tome" instead. Or is it "to"? :)
But since we have differing regional pronunciations over here, we're all perfectly used to hearing them in daily life and so you will not cause any discombobulation. Wife, from South Yorkshire, has different sounds for "to" and "too". Her "too" is like "boo", but her "to" is more like "tuh".
