My NI.N subscription is due on April 1 and the credit card C&B has is
no longer in existence, so I expect problems. My CC company informed
me last Sunday that someone had tried to use my card with Itunes,
which apparently has a large enough database for fraudsters to use to
see if randomly-generated credit card numbers get a hit. Not Itunes'
fault, of course, but they had to cancel my card and issue me with
another, which I probably won't receive by month end.
Mine is also due around now. It must be the anniversary of when they
stopped being free.
I paid my first sub to them on 15/02/2005. I have just checked and this
year's hasn't appeared on my card account yet. No interruption in service
though.
Your renewal date is 1st April. Your payment on 15/02/2005 was a
payment in advance. You continued to receive a free service
until the end of March 2005.
My first payment was on 23/02/2005. Subsequent payments have
been on 1st April.
The email from NIN (2005-02-15) explained:
effective from April 1th, 2005, use of News.Individual.NET
will not be free of charge anymore. The news service will
continue as a fee-based service.
The time until March 31th, 2005, is a transitional period so
that holders of existing accounts will have plenty of time
for convenient conversion. Sign-up for new accounts or
conversion of existing accounts made within the transitional
period (before April 1th, 2005) will not cause any
disadvantages:
Contracts concluded within the transitional period will last
until March 31th, 2006 (Annual Subscription) or June 30th,
2005 (3 Months Subscription) without additional costs. Then
the contracts will automatically renew themselves for
another year or another three months respectively.
I'd forgotten about that. Thanks.
