I agree it's bloody funny. But Satish Kumar walked from India to
Britain with no money; I was so impressed that I never even
thought of asking him about the language thing.
I wonder if he perhaps benefitted from a sort of positive cultural
discrimination?
Western culture has long been aware of eastern ascetics, so an Indian
travelling on foot with no money might well be taken for a holy man,
and probably has a better chance of getting by than a 28-year-old
Englishman who looks like he's trying to blag his way around the
world.
