[subjunctive meaning "whether"]

What is the definition of a subjunctive?

It's a state of mind, really; a way of describing an action as a
concept or possibility, without committing yourself to its actuality.
In some languages, many subjunctive forms of the verb are
distinguishable from the indicative; in English most of these
distinctions have disappeared. The best way to learn how the
subjunctive is used is to read and practice until you get a feel for
it.

Your earlier posts have indicated that you have access to grammar
textbooks and their definitions, so I won't trouble you with more of
those.
