The following seems like the natural way of writing:
"The price increased from $1.00 to $2.00."
Yet I see in the press all the time:
"The price increased to $2.00 from $1.00"
Which is correct and why?
Case 2 (TO first, then FROM) is prefered N.American
newspaper style, as documented in the Canadian
Press style book and elsewhere, preferred as more
clear than Case 1. This is not a topic of grammatical
correctness but style, e.g. house style.
