No, actually, it varies from state to state, but as I recall -- and
I've been registered in several states -- you just pick one when you
register to vote.

Speaking of which, I just returned from the post office, where I mailed my wife's voter registration form (tomorrow is the last day for mailing them to still make them effective for the February 5th primaries). She changed her affiliation from R to D. I changed my affiliation in that direction several months ago. We have been voting for most of the Democratic candidates for some time.
