It certainly seems simplified, archaic(in grammar) and Teutonic(in
word choice).
Can we think of any other attributes it may have, or guidelines used
in writing it?
One attribute I noticed in Lord of the Rings was the use of the present simple when in ordinary English we would use the present progressive:
Examples:
"A red sun rises."
"Gondor calls for aid."
"We track a band of Uruk-Hai westward across the plain."
